Online System to Monitor Sex Ratio in Panipat

The Haryana government launched the Online system to Monitor the Sex Ratio in Panipat District as part of the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” programme.

The system, called the sex ratio monitoring dashboard, will have the data of child sex-ratio collected from all villages by the Health and Women and Child Welfare Departments every month.

Rajasthan – RAHAT project

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje inaugurated a medical project Rajasthan Heart Attack Treatment programme (RAHAT) in Jaipur.

RAHAT aims to provide people in remote and rural areas with timely treatment during heart attacks.

Academy Awards 89 (Oscar Awards)

The 89th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honored the best films of 2016.

During the ceremony, AMPAS presented Academy Awards (commonly referred to as Oscars) in 24 categories.

Awardees of 2016:

Best film – Moonlight (Director – Barry Jenkins)

Best Director – Damien Chazelle for La La Land

Best Actor – Casey Affleck (As Lee Chandler in the Film Manchester by the Sea)

Best Actress – Emma stone (Mia Dolan in La La Land)

Best Animated Feature Film – Zootopia

Best Foreign Language Film – The Salesman (Iran) in Persian

Key features:

Moonlight won three awards, including Best Picture.

La La Land won the most awards of the ceremony with six after receiving a record-tying 14 nominations.

World Cup Mixed Air Pistol Champions

Jitu Rai and Heena Sidhu won the gold in the Mixed Air Pistol Event in the World Cup Shooting Championship.

Both Jitu Rai and Heena Sidhu beat the Japanese pair of Tomoyuki Matsuda and Yukani Konishi in the gold medal match.

Ankur mittal from India lost the gold medal by one point to James Willett of Australia and won the Silver medal in the Double Trap event in World cup shooting.
